Save our Red RelativesTo this day orangutans are shot, captured, stuffed and mounted as
trophies, or abused as pets. All this in spite of the fact that they
have been a protected species for more than 60 years. But by far the biggest threat is habitat loss: Their home, the tropical rainforest, is being destroyed on a massive scale by exploitative lumbering, clear cutting for plantations and massive fires.
