PanEco and its Indonesian partner foundation YEL (Yayasan Ekosistem Lestari ) have started a new programme in Batang Toru. The "Forest Boundary Socialisation Programme" is a cooperation with the local NGO Perkumpulan SAMUDERA and the District Government of Central Tapanuli. It aims to prevent further encroachment into the West Batang Toru Forest Block which is home to one of the last substantial Sumatran orangutan populations.
